About Morris Kaye & Sons
"The fur business is experiencing a great renaissance. The economy has changed and people are deciding for themselves what they are going to wear," says Joel Kaye of Morris Kaye and Sons, a family-operated firm. With showrooms in New York, San Antonio and Dallas, Morris Kaye and Sons has the size and ability to negotiate for the best available pelts to create furs of beauty and distinction. "We buy direct at auction, so there is no middle man," continues Kaye. Morris Kaye and Sons carries mink that is bred in the USA, known to be the finest mink in the world. Mink is the fur of choice for most customers, but the Morris Kaye and Sons showroom also offers a variety of sable, lynx, sheared beaver, fox and other specialty furs. The showroom displays fashionable fur garments in a wide variety of styles including full-length coats, strollers, vests jackets, reversible leather and fur bombers, and opera capes. Accessories may include hats, headbands, mink teddy bears and more.
Morris Kaye and Sons presents a full range of services that can see you through the selection, monogramming, insurance, storage, maintenance and repairs of your fur. All furs have a lifetime guarantee, and a maintenance protection plan is available that includes all of the services in one convenient package at a reasonable cost. To update the look or provide additional comfort for a favorite fur, remodeling services are also offered. Kaye enjoys treating new customers to an education in fur buying. "I want them to really appreciate and enjoy what they are getting," he begins. "The most comfortable furs to wear are light in weight. Mink garments are made from either male or female skins, with male skins known to be coarser, thicker and heavier. Female skins are lighter in weight and silkier to the touch. The female garment will require twice as many pelts and additional labor to complete a coat, with a resulting higher cost." Fuller coats are more expensive because they require a greater number of pelts. Color is also an important factor in cost, as natural pelts must be matched to complete a coat. Dyed coats are less expensive because color variations can be concealed. "You may be considering two coats that appear the same, but are priced thousands of dollars apart. If you know what criteria to look for, you will appreciate the differences that are reflected in the cost." "You know, there still is nothing that makes a woman feel more glamorous and beautiful than a quality fur. That's why at Morris Kaye and Sons, we sell only the highest quality furs at the most reasonable prices," says Kaye.
